Having grown up with horses, I feel the sadness for all the old friends I worked and played with. As you know, Big Bertha, my pickup, is named for one horse I had who was more than I could handle, big and strong, and nearly killed me several times. I laughed at the story about your Tia, reminded me of every horse I ever had who knew so well what that last round of a corner meant "get the bit between your teeth and get back to the barn"! I am so sorry for the loss of your dear old friend. Duane, your post about Crackers is beautiful and very moving. Does not surprise me that he clung to life for so long on your farm. What smart horse wouldn't? He was with you for so long, it must feel like losing a part of your personal history.
